Objectives:
By beginning with the manipulation of a singular object, you inadvertently (or intentionally) create set of parameters for the creative process. Your object has a language of use, history, materiality. It's physical characteristics dictate what kinds of things you CAN do to it or with it, and it's language will be at the root of WHY you do it.
This project is an inexpensive, quick icebreaker. It is intended to be a catalyst for production and has a very short deadline. Meet it.
Requirements:
Thoroughly research the links at the right. Pick three favorites and be prepared to give a brief presentation on your artists with in class. Then create an object- based sculpture that would fit within this collection of works by your selected artists. This project is open media and open scale. Be creative and inventive! Once completed, each student will submit his/her successful projects for consideration and inclusion on the RecyclArt website.
